Le Merde
Mike Kelly and his partner in marriage and design, Michelle (Shelly) Kelly are the Seattle, Washington-based husband and wife design team, Le Merde. Michelle is the Seattle connection, whereas Mike grew up in Tucson, Arizona and the new and proudly parental duo consummated their design romance in London, England at the turn of the millennium.
A quick glance at Le Merde’s portfolio and it seems that every design perspective has been covered: comic figures, vivid illustrations, pop art-styled paintings, sculptures, vinyl and plush toys… the list just keeps on going.
Le Merde’s pictures and figures, displayed in exhibitions around the world, conjure up images reflecting iconic pop culture, with additional influences from heavy metal music and 1970s cartoon characters.
