JoSH AGle is SHAG. Of course he is!
Painter, illustrator and designer, SHAG paints, illustrates and designs his livelihood in his large, California-based studio with panoramic views of a wooded valley in the hills above Los Angeles. He lives and works there with his wife and two children.
SHAG began his career as an illustrator-for-hire, doing anything and everything to earn an honest buck. “Most of my paintings are set in the middle of a story or situation – characters are interacting and reacting to each other and to outside events.” Good idea, for fate, or whatever it’s called in the design world, was on his side. Before getting sucked into a day job, acclaim for his original paintings sky-rocketed and his time became a valuable commodity. He now spends this time preparing new work for galleries, exhibitions and collectors from New York to Paris to Tokyo and working on diverse media designs which includes the Pirates of the Caribbean Boy figure!
Where SHAG’s paintings celebrate consumerism and consumption, his toy designs and illustrational art pieces introduce another dimension to his many talents.
