Patrick Yorck Ma
Patrick York Ma was born in the Belgian capital, Brussels, but thankfully moved to the US with his parents when he was four years old.
Upon graduating from the University of California with a Bachelors degree in art, swiftly followed by a Masters in 3D Arts from San Jose State University, he began to use his talents to spread ecological awareness.
His figures may lean towards an environmentally aware audience, but science fiction is another major inspiration, the IWG toys being a prime example of this vision.
The characters from Insurgents Wilderness Gruppo are fun, ecologically pro-active and armed to the teeth with the latest weapons technology. “Any subtext or overt messages embedded in the IWG toys is absolutely intentional and delivered in a natural and intuitive visual language”.
Ma is serious about what he believes in. His spare time is spent in remote locations doing conservation work with wildlife groups, his favourite colour is green like the forest and his toys have an ingenious knack of spreading ecological awareness.
