Pete Fowler
In 1969, the future fine arts graduate and designer toy maestro Peter Fowler was born in Wales.
Now living in London, Fowler is the mastermind behind Monsterism, the name under which he operates in such diverse fields as drawing, painting, animation and sculpture. He is also the founder and owner of the toy production company, Playbeast.
It was Sony Creative that gave him the platform he required to commence his designer toy career. Following an exhibition of his sculptures in Japan, they provided him with the means to build plastic figures based on his artwork. This opened up a host of possibilities for the fiendish creations residing in his parallel world, Monsterism Island. The wide variety of creatures existing in this heinous habitat caters for all tastes and it’s this diversification that is key to Fowler’s success, whose toys can be added to a list of accomplishments which include highly acclaimed artwork for the Welsh band, Super Furry Animals.
