Tokidoki
Born in Rome, Italian artist Simone Legno launched his Tokidoki web site “as a place in which to display my art and soul”.
It seems that his colourful, Japan inspired pop art caught the attention of numerous internet surfers, and in early 2003, Legno received a call from Hard Candy Cosmetics inviting him to move to Los Angeles and transform Tokidoki into a brand to share with the rest of the world. He hasn’t looked back.
Legno has always been fascinated with Japan and in particular the contemporary aspects of Japanese pop culture. Tokidoki, meaning “sometimes” in Japanese, has now gained worldwide recognition not just in the designer toy arena, but also for bags, skateboards, badges, jewellery and accessories. With the talent on offer and a web site described as being cute, playful, sexy and sophisticated, world domination is not far off for Tokidoki.
