Dave Kinsey
Born in Pittsburgh in 1971, Kinsey was never a nine-to-five person. So, following studies at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and the Art Institute of Atlanta, he moved to the west coast, founding his creative design studio BLK/MRKT in the process. Its success has allowed him to pursue his path as an accomplished designer and fine artist and avoid any form of daily work structure.
The Kinsey style originates from an exposure to street art and compliments his goal “to expose as many people to art as possible and to honour the power art has when it’s created and accepted”. It is quite easy to compare the actual substance, the multi-layered, textured environments evident in Kinsey’s artwork, to the complexities of contemporary urban life, and his BLK/MRKT Gallery offers the perfect crossroads to capture true artistic innovation from a new movement of young and electrifying iconoclasts.
Kinsey’s emergence in the world of designer toys arrives on top of international acclaim for his portraits and fine art with his work featuring in such publications as The New York Times, LoDown and Black Book.
