Boris Hoppek
He wanted to study art but wasn’t accepted at art school. Boris Hoppek, born in Kreuztal Germany in 1970, is now living the high life in Barcelona. Why? Because he trained as a tracer instead.
In the early nineties he started to graffiti the streets and his art has continued developing ever since. Sometimes he uses piles of cardboard boxes instead of a canvas and other times he fills streets with cardboard boxes and paints on them. Box art, street art, call it what you will, ok, Hoppek art.
With his sculptures, Hoppek wanted something “that you can also use in bed”. His first Bimbo Doll appeared in 2002 and, thanks to an advert from a German car manufacturer, his audience multiplied incalculably overnight. The Bimbo Dolls have even hit the rock scene under the guise of the Barcelona based band, the C.M.O.N.S.
